Autumn 2021 Newsletter!

Annual Fee

Firstly, thanks to all that have already contributed this year. Good to see the greens looking so well and fair to say they were always well maintained by the grass cutting gang this year!

There are still some residents that remain unpaid for the year. Please contact if you are unsure!

A gentle reminder to all that the more residents that contribute, the more additional jobs can be done in Grange Manor estate.

Please spread the word in your street, as we do not have email or other contact details for everyone.

Estate improvements this year

We had hoped to get some more work done this year, but folks were busy and suppliers difficult to get! Nevertheless, it’s hoped to get a couple of things done before year end.

Some ideas from residents who have been in touch so far include

  • improving the shrub bed at Manor Lawn (first entrance) – we hope to get this done soon
  • adding trees and shrubs to both entrances
  • planting more trees on green areas

If you have any ideas for your street or green, please do get in touch.  Also, for these projects to be completed, we do need more help!

Speed Ramps

Resident often suggest the real need for speed ramps in Grange Manor. Unfortunately, it has been stated to a resident that while Ruden Homes still own the estate, there is nothing the Council can do. Ruden Homes have been asked a number of times (along with plenty of other items!) but generally do not even respond.

Here are their contact details if you ever see something that needs attention.

Graffiti!

Unfortunately, a couple of walls in the estate have had some graffiti added. We have looked at the cost of getting this professionally cleaned. It’s not cheap! In fact, it’s €400 to take care of the graffiti at the 2nd entrance and by the laneway near Classic Windows.

Would there be willingness for residents to contribute to a fund to get that taken care of?

For example, it would mean 80 contributions of €5. If you would be interested in helping to organise that please contact chair@grangemanor.ie or send a donation to PayPal @ PayPal.Me/grangemanor

Grange Road improvements

It was good to see plans start for a safe-crossing near the bus stop by Grange Cross. Cork County Council were due to begin work on this, but unfortunately it has been delayed as they received an objection.

A couple of residents have been working with the Roads dept in Cork CoCo to improve the area by the footbridge. Already one positive move has seen the old gate removed, which allows bikes get through there more easily.

There is also a request in to tidy up the overgrowth in that area allowing for more lighting on the footpath.

Finally, one resident is communicating with the Council to improve safety at Grange Cross. Cars and trucks often come off Kilumney Rd onto Grange Rd at high speed. The council recently painted yellow marking on the corner to discourage that. There are plans to tighten that junction also.

Footpath to the shop!

Also, good to see work on the long awaited footpath from Grange Manor to Cuddihys started a few weeks ago. We are told that the intention is for this footpath to continue out to Grange Cross.

Parking

Again, a reminder to residents not to park on footpaths in the estate!
